Our Projects

Some of the projects we deliver include:

Stepping Stones: a pre-employment course which introduces the possibility of employment to people who may have never considered it as an option. The employment support co-ordinators look at building confidence, looking at people’s skills and abilities and exploring how these skills can be applied to work.

Project Search: a one year programme based in a hospital setting for young people in their final year of education who want to work. It enables them to work through different departments throughout the year as interns.

Steps 2 Independence: helps people to become successfully independent and empowers them to achieve their goals. We use many different strategies and tools depending on the individual and their goals, using assistive technology and community resources wherever possible.

Steps up to employment: a project aiming to help people who are currently dealing with circumstances that are potentially causing barriers to work and move people closer towards education, training, volunteering or work, including self-employment.

Traineeships: These are opportunities for employers to take on a young person who otherwise may have limited prospects of working and offer them a fully supported experience of the working world. This is the first step on the job ladder for many young people with special educational needs. Each individual will spend three days per week in the workplace and one day per week working on CV writing, interviews and employability skills. They will have an employment co-ordinator provided for the placement, who will support them with day to day tasks until the individual is confident in their role, and ultimately in a position when they could be offered paid employment.

HPC Project: there are opportunities with EDF at Hinkley Point Power Station C to complete a 10-15 week programme in different areas on a nuclear-licenced construction site.

HPC is the biggest nuclear construction site in Europe and is based on the outskirts of Bridgwater. It provides an opportunity to learn and develop essential work skills on a large scale, complete work experience placements and upskill with training and qualifications. All on-boarding is included so you are badged and ready to work legally on the site.
