“I really enjoy football and I love being a part of the team.”
Football-mad Amy has been a part of the Porlock women’s football team for almost two years. She said:
“The girls are lovely and friendly and they help me play. I also like going out with them, they are my friends.”
She has been training with the team every Wednesday evening and been invited to play in friendly matches; in fact she had her debut game during a football tournament in Yeovil.
Being part of a team boosts Amy’s confidence and self-belief and her support workers have gone out of their way to ensure she attends football practice every week.
Support worker, Claire Birkett, said:
“The members of the football team are very supportive and are always encouraging Amy to do her best. They have made her very welcome, and she is invited out for team outings, events and even the pub on a few occasions.”
We support Amy to be more independent and to live the life she chooses. She lives in Minehead.
