For Family, Friends & Carers

We take a person-centred approach towards your loved one, treating and supporting them as an individual.

We encourage them to live more independently and discover and pursue activities that they enjoy. Our colleagues provide support across the county in a variety of settings, including supported living, community outreach and short breaks.

We will encourage you to get involved in all aspects of your loved one’s support; from participating in colleague recruitment and appraisals to shaping their support plan. We will ask you to compliment your relative’s staff team for a job well done. If things are not going well, you can raise issues through our complaints procedure.

We’ll provide many opportunities for you to get involved in the life of our organisation, and have a Family Consultant, whose role is to champion the rights of families across Discovery, and address any concerns they have.

The Discovery Family Charter
Created in consultation with families, our charter outlines our commitment to working with you and how you can help us. Covering communication, decision making, health and wellbeing and what to do if things go wrong, this is our commitment to you. You can read the charter here
