Volunteering with Discovery

By volunteering with Discovery, you will see the incredible difference you can make for people with learning disabilities and autism.

We can help people looking for experience, a team building exercise or simply the opportunity to do something good. You can help people achieve their goals and see how you have changed someone’s life.

What volunteering means

We have a vision to see, “an inclusive society where people have equal chances to live the life they choose.”

This inclusive society starts with you. You can help improve the public’s understanding of learning disabilities and autism, and help the people we support find new friends and opportunities.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • help people to learn new skills
  • help people to get out and about
  • help people embrace technology
  • support the work of Discovery in and around Somerset
  • learn more about a career in social care.

We will support you, too

We are a forward-thinking organisation – we encourage everyone who works with us to give their all. We want you to be as passionate as we are and we will help you, and the people you are supporting, to achieve your outcomes and goals together.

Our approach to staff matching will help match you with people who have similar interests. We will help you and the people you support explore new interests and strengths. Not only will you see the difference you are making, but they will make a difference to you too.

Our volunteers play a vital role in our work, and you will make a huge and positive contribution to improving the lives of the people we support.
